STRING BASS

Unique, Consistent, and Dependable

Gabriel Katzenmeier begin his musical journey when he was in second grade. Similar too many bassists he began on cello before switching to the string bass.  He started playing cello in 2nd Grade and switched to bass his 7th grade year. Switching to bass unlocked a whole new world for Gabriel. From performing the national anthem at a pelicans NBA game. To performing with St.Olaf Choir in Carnegie Hall. The Bass has been the greatest gift in his life. His first step of his journey to becoming a professional musician began when he got into the St.Olaf music programs. Starting his journey at St.Olaf as a section bass player. He later on was assistant principal and currently principal. Not limited to just orchestra he also has performed with St.Olaf Choir, St.Olaf Cantorei, St.Olaf Chapel Choir. Performing works by composers such as Bach to modern composers such as Anna Clyne. He is not a Bassist stuck in the past. Additionally Gabriel has performed with the St.Olaf Band. Performing works by David Maslanka, Dr.Henry Dorn and many other arrangements. He wants to impact others with his bass playing. He hopes to accomplish this through his solo performances. His chamber ensemble performances and his orchestral performances. Music was the greatest gift to his life and wants to do his part to give that gift to others. Impacting people and changing the way they think about music and the world.
